Anthropology is amazing, I couldn’t have choosen a better major. I have one more year before I graduate with a BA degree from the University of Central Florida. I really like ethnographies and I’m most interested in medical and cultural anthropology. Philosophy is pretty cool too. I just hope I can find a job after I graduate. But no matter what happens, I would enjoy doing it and its led me in a good direction in life. I just hope to find a guy that as passionate about the same subjects as I am.

For the past couple of years, I’ve been thinking about partly giving up my “housewife/stay at home mom” career to study anthropology.I have been searching college catalogs for info. I’ve taken the first step.
jess jess jess meow.
i LOVE anthropology.
don’t know if i’ll ever actually get to put my degree to good use, but i absolutely love the field, and wouldnt have wanted to study anything else!

Little update about why anthropology kicks ass..
Im doing a course on Anthropology&Religion and because religion is so ill defined, I get to watch hours of documentaries on UFO’s and read Project Blue Book and Erich von Danicken and still get 15 ECTS..

I just realized… I’m already studying anthropology!!!
DUH!
:D
Although I’m not taking classes currently, I am teaching an anthro unit in my lit class…it’s fabulous! It mimics anthropological research but with a book very specific to one type of culture. It’s great to do whilst waiting to study more for myself. Yay me!
In the process of completing this goal. Taking an intro to social anthro course. In a few months, I’ll be able to check this one off!
I shopped an anthro course a few weeks ago, but it didn’t look so interesting. Another semester, another course. Maybe another concentration altogether, if it turns out not to interest me as much.
I got my BA in Anthropology from Georgia State University in December 2004. I’m going to be honest with you…it’s isn’t something you should go into because you think there’s a lot of money and glory to be had (it isn’t at all like Indiana Jones). Do it because you have a passion for it…you’ve got to love it and live it. Don’t get discouraged when you don’t find a job in your field right away after college…plan on going to grad school. Forensic, cultural, medical, biological, urban…it’s a wide open and fascinating field and you can do a lot with it, just stick to it and you’ll get there.
My undergrad was two degrees-English Literature and cultural anthropology. I was somehow derailed into believing there was more opportunity in lit than anthro-and here I am teaching. Oh well! But now is my opportunity to change that and follow what I really wanted—a masters degree in anthro. I think I’ve forgotten everything, though! And to top it off, don’t want a degree at the only local uni (UNLV) so will have to find a one year program and live there for a year, taking a leave of absence with no guarentee of coming back to teach at the same wonderful high school that I am at now. Is it worth it???
