My goal used to be: Do yoga. I need it to be more specific and doable! Three times a week I can handle. So I’m starting tonight, after I do all my chores. It’s part of my healthy living plan, and I intend to integrate it into my lifestyle. Eventually I’m going to set up a schedule for yoga 3 times a week, weight lifting twice a week, and walking 30 minutes every day (that one is easy cuz it’s daily).

I would recommend the Power Yoga that is done on Sunshine Coast by Yoga NRG, and Duncan Peak in Sydney…vinyasa style, and is amazing. In terms of DVDs, there is a nice one called ‘Simply Yoga’ still available in bookshops on DVD…saw it for sale at Australia Post today. Not vinyasa, more static poses, but very good and easy for beginners.

secondmercedes lovin' every minute of it. And..like a weatherman predicting the news.
I’m going to yoga tomorrow. I will commute by bike to my gym which I have yet to try but can’t wait to try it and I will do yoga and then bike to work. It’s going to be fabulous! That will be 2 sessions for the week and then I go away. Hopefully where I am going away to they will have a yoga studio that I can use. I think they do.
Yoga has been helping my depression. Or rather, it is keeping me from being so depressed.

My three sessions are:
I am going to do yoga tomorrow at noon with my fav instructor, Lauran. At my gym.
Then on Friday night at 6 pm I am going to a free hot yoga class at Yoga Vida with my friends Stephanie and Kristen. I will sweat my a$$ off and it will be fun.
Then on Sunday morning, I will go to Zoe’s hour and a half long class and stretch out big time after the 30 mile ride on Saturday.

I haven’t been doing my yoga regularly and my body is showing me signs of fatigue and hurt. My IT band has really been hurting me and I think it’s because I’m not doing my weekly twists, dying warriors, and hip openers. I need to get back on this. Yoga is integral to my running health and my 1/2 Ironman training. There is no excuse for missing yoga!

I did yoga for years, but fell out of it. Rather than trying to figure out why, I just want to do it again. I started last week, slowly since my body hasn’t experienced it in a long time. I prefer to do it alone, at home. Save gas, save money, save time, do yoga.

Sunshine is octopus in a very octopus way.
Yoga is a wonderful practice. In the past, I have enjoyed practicing yoga, especially when I am able to do it on a consistent basis. It is so beneficial to my body, with all of the aches and pains I deal with on a daily basis. There was one time, for about a month, where I had no pain due to my plantar faciitis (pain in the foot and heel associated with an inflamed tendon in the bottom of the foot), that was when I was doing yoga about four times a week. There was another time when my back pain had virtually disappeared, that was when I was doing yoga five times a week (and working out at the gym too).
I lost a great deal of my flexibility since having my son. Being pregnant messes with your joints. There is a chemical released in your system that loosens the cartilage in your body when you are pregnant. The main reason for that is to make it easier for your pelvis to expand when the baby comes out. Well, the chemical isn’t localized. I had a lot of issues with my ankles and my hips. They didn’t like to stay in their joints. I almost fell several times. Well, I still have those issues. My joints feel weakened and stiff. Yoga would help me immensely.
There is a yoga program on Oxygen network called Inhale. Steve Ross is the instructor. He is amazing. I love that program and won’t waste my time with others (except for practice on my own). I purchased his book some time ago, but it has been collecting dust on my shelf. One aspect about his method that I love is how rigorous it is. unfortunately, that also means I won’t be able to do all of it at first. I am so stiff and out of it, that I’ll have to take it easy for a while. But, hopefully, it won’t take long to get back into the swing of things.
So, Three times a week. That should be enough to ease me back into things while still making a difference. I have a tendency to go balls-to-the-wall when I start an exercise regimine, and I normally injure myself and have to stop. So, I’m going to start off slow and steady and build up my strength a bit before going full force. I am basically starting from scratch since I was out of shape before the pregnancy and that just made it worse. I think it is safe to say that I am in the worst shape of my life right now.
