Citygirl7 is visiting 43T after being absent for 6 months. It's different!
I have the greatest, most wonderful Manager ever. She’s probably one of the youngest in our little Multimedia Group but her management style, her professionalism, fairness, and ability to see the big picture make her simply a delight to work with. We all just love her.
She has been off work now for about three weeks, and comes in now and again but has to leave because she’s in pain. She has something similar to diverticulitis. They haven’t quite diagnosed the problem yet, but they’re getting close.
On behalf of the group, I am going sneak out and buy a nice get well card and maybe pick up a snuggly, cute little stuffed animal and have it courriered over to her house.
I hope that will cheer her up and let her know that we all care for her and wish her well.

it is government year-end and lots has to be done. Also have to prepare appraisals and training plans for the employees along with the other projects I have on the go. It is going to be a stressful week, and my last day is Wednesday as I’m going out of town for the Easter week-end. So, all has to be done and delivered by Wednesday. Yikes, I’m stressed already. There will certainly be overtime done this week. :-/

I work so much better under deadlines. The hard part is just getting the motivation to start, and then once I do, it’s easy to keep going. I had fun earlier in the week working on the analysis & presentation for next week’s big meeting, and today I was totally “in the zone” while working on a report I’ve been avoiding. Looking forward to more of the same next week!
I guess it also helps that I’ve only had 2 five-day weeks the entire year so far, thanks to the 9/80 schedule! I am so spoiled :-)

My projects are picking up a little, getting a little more interesting. Still not enough to make me jump excitedly out of bed in the morning, but it’s a move in the right direction.

I’ve been having a lot of trouble being motivated at work; I think one project I’m doing is the wrong kind of project for me. I know I should talk to my supervisor about it but I am hesitant to do so since I know it’s hard enough for him to find assignments for everyone in the group as things are. Besides, there’s a good chance that eventually this project will grow into something that would be really exciting and interesting, and if so I want to get in on the ground floor…

Getting better
I was actually kind of sad to leave work on Friday afternoon. It also means I’m a little excited to go in Monday morning.

Work has been really intense for the past month, because of all the proposal deadlines, but now it’s over! I learned a lot of things that would make doing it again easier, and less stressful. Of course I didn’t enjoy the stress of November, but I think it was just what I needed to get me back into being productive on the job again.
I am looking forward to having a productive month of December without the stress of the deadlines.

about the three projects I’m working on right now, but a little stressed. Last week was my most productive week in a long time, mostly because I’m under a lot of deadlines. It does really motivate me and make my job exciting, but I’m afraid that in the long run such a strategy will be very stressful.
Things will probably be back to normal after the month of November, after most of the deadlines have passed.

I’ve got lots of interesting things going on next week. It’s easier to be excited about my job when it’s only a 4-day week! I’m having trouble getting myself to get a head start on it this afternoon, though. It’s Friday, after all!

I recently wrote an entry related to this, but I wasn’t sure what goal it would relate to so I put it under one of my “catch-all” goals. But upon seeing this goal, I knew it was exactly what I was looking for.
I am passionate about my career, but not so much about the day-to-day trappings of my job. I am fortunate that my job entails working on a number of different short-ish projects, and that I have some leeway to pick and choose what I work on.
I need to develop a clear idea of what’s not working for me right now, and what I can do to make it better.
