I just recently read an article in Cosmo (yes, Cosmo!) about Alpana Singh, the world’s youngest female master sommelier. I was told once at a restaurant that I would make a great sommelier after I made a great wine recommendation. It was quite the compliment, and I certainly love to taste different kinds of wine, so now i’m looking into it!

After being in Italy for a month or so, where you can get a bottle of wine just about as cheap as a bottle of water, I think I’m starting to be able to tell the difference between a really crappy wine and a decent wine…hah! Progress! LOL Maybe eventually I’ll be able to tell a really good wine from just a decent wine (not likely to happen here on our budget)...for now we’ll stick to the good 2 euro white wine we found. Yay for good cheap wine!
That’s how I feel about wine. There is always something new and interesting to learn and find about wine. I would love to make the art of wine my living… I guess I need to keep on dreaming!
Ok, this could just be a pipe-dream. Even if I don’t actually ever become a sommelier, it would be awesome to learn more about wine.

danastafford asks,
“I am looking for advice on how/where to get certified as a sommelier. I live in San Diego, and I can either do a short term program elsewhere or I need to find a local program. Any ideas?”
