    Worth doing!

Well, didn’t get the Orthodox in before going home but I’m counting it as done. I’ll visit and Orthodox service back in the states some day. Interesting to have visited the different services here to compare them to back home. In a way all of the denominations share some similar ground rule assumptions that I would just consider part of the national character.

Today, I actually had a Sunday off from work. So I went to a Quaker meeting.

    Defining  — 2 years ago

It occurred to me that it would be a good idea to make a list of how I am defining “major religions.”

    1. Hinduism
    2. Buddhism
    3. Judaism
    4. Christianity (consisting of catholicism, eastern orthodoxy, lutheran, episcopal, methodist, presbyterian, baptist, congregational, church of christ, adventist, quakerism, unitarian universalist, mormonism, and christian science)
    5. Islam
    6. Scientology
    7. Neo-Paganism
    8. Baha’i
    9. Taoism
    10. Jainism

So that makes 23 counting the christian sects, and I have visited a total of 6 so far.

This goal has been hampered by a work schedule that now includes Sundays…I’ll have to look into religions who have a sabbath on Thursdays or Fridays. Hmm…

I’m in Scotland and want to visit some of the different Churches while I’m here.
I’ve been to Church of Scotland, Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland and Scottish Espicopal Church.
    I want to visit:
    1. Free Church of Scotland
    2. The Episcopal Cathedral here in Glasgow
    3. Greek Orthodox
    4. Roman Catholic
    5. Church of England (hopefully George Herbert’s Parish on his Day)
    6. Methodist (want to compare to American Methodism)
This would be about one a month before I move back to the states and would cover most of the churches I would like to visit.

    1. Southern Baptist
    2. United Universalist
    3. Episcopal
    4. Mormon
    5. Buddhist
    6. Presbyterian
