have straight teeth

I should be getting the braces off soon!

I mean, how many people do you go up to and say, “Here’s a ridiculous amount of money. One hour of mind-numbing pain and discomfort, please.”? For good or ill, my parents were never onboard with the whole dentist thing for me or my sisters. Probably due to the cost. So, while I’ve taken good care of my teeth since I was old enough to recognize the importance, mine are still in need of some work. The biggest issue will probably be getting my wisdoms out. I have one tooth that’s noticeably crowded out of its proper alignment, and I don’t think there’s room for it till I get that done. Beyond that… I dunno. Guess we’ll see. Don’t have the money for anything now, in any case.

Just got the braces off 10/23/07! My teeth are straight, however after wearing braces for the past 5 years I have developed some sort of gum problem. ::SIGH:: I’m on the fence about if it was really worth all the time and expense.

I don’t doubt that for some people it’s worthwhile but for me it was an utter nightmare that went on for 12 years at my mother’s insistence. She kept saying I’d thank her later…well, I got my braces off six years ago and I’m still not inclined to thank her. In fact, thanks to that nightmare I’m even more petrified of dentists than I was when I started that hideous mess. I would happily have traded my Barbie doll teeth for 12 years’ less trauma.

Honestly, if your teeth are otherwise healthy and comfortable to live with, don’t worry about how straight they are. The romance around the orthodontically perfect smile is just another one of those ridiculous fashion magazine ideals…and much harder to attain than most. If you really feel a need to look more in vogue go for the iridescent eyeshadow or the Tommy Hilfiger underwear instead, but don’t let anyone talk you into thinking you need braces to attract the perfect mate or land the ideal job. You don’t. You need to do what you want.

I actually miss my braces.

My mom and I were thinking that we could go back, find the wires and brackets, and make a really gross necklace.

Well.
I did it.

Twenty months of braces, and my teeth are STRAIGHT.

Braces come off on WEDNESDAY.

If they don’t notice I’ve been bad about the bands.
I’m so fucking excited.

I said two months left, but that was BEFORE they told me they still had to fix my back molars.

Basically, I’ve had to have these silly braces alllll through this summer, when they told me they’d be off by May. However, the extension is almost over. I get my braces off August 29th, and I’m more than thrilled. Skyler, my boy, got his off at the start of the summer, and I haven’t been able to look at him without envy since. It’s also time for senior picturesss, and I can’t get them with metal in my mouth, can I?

NINETEEN DAYS, GO!

I don’t know when i’ll ever get my teeth straightened. I don’t want to look like a little kid when I’m 25 or worse 30. I can’t get them now because I go to college which prevents me from staying in one place enough to visit the orthodontist often..sigh..

Have now got barces on so well on my way…..
