No music is better than ska. Playing trombone in a ska band is what its all about.

being in a ska band, even though it was only for several months, was one of the most fun experiences of my life. being the only girl surrounded by 6 other guys was always interesting, our band mommy always fed us, and we played some crazy shows (an elementary school talent show, our school cafeteria, backyards, and actually venues!)

Being in a band has always been a dream of mine. I wouldn’t know what I would play because I suck at almost everything I play, so I would probably just have to do all the synth and DJ type stuff and be background band member, because I don’t play much plus I’m not really a person who would look good with a band. I’m not “visually” band material.

But the good thing is, I can play one instrument well enough to be in a band that plays a certain kind of music: Ska. I haven’t listened to much Ska, but unlike many people I know, I acctually like it and know what it’s about. The first Ska I ever listened to would have to be the Supertones back when they were really really good. Like, their first CD which I love. I started listening to them when I was a Freshman in highschool then other infulences lead me into my favorite type of music is the Heavy type rock, like Disturbed and Static-X.

But recently that has changed. My friend Cassie, hath introduced me to my kind of Ska: Catch 22, Pain, and other really AWESOME ska. That and she’s starting a ska band, and what I was trying to say before I got off topic a little, was that the only instrument that I can play decently is the Tenor Sax and that seems to be an instrument of choice for ska, along with the other saxes, trumpet, and trombone. So I can finally be in a band.
