Went to the doctor to start getting shots for the India trip and she wants me to start taking my blood pressure twice a week and keep a log. I go back next month for more shots so she wants the log at that point and if they are all high we will start blood work and possible get on meds. I really dont want to have to be on meds for this (I’m only 25 after all) so I’ve started concentrating on this goal and taking walks and eating better….we will see if it helps any :\
I went to the doctor last monday for my annual appointment and when they took my blood pressure she didnt say anything about it being high. I dont know what it was for sure but thats the first time I’ve had my blood pressure taken that they didnt look at me funny and say “is this normal??” So I’ll take that as a good sign! I’m not going to mark this done yet just because this was just the first time I havn’t been high…well wait a couple of weeks and take it at home and see how it is.
Considering I’m only 24 I’ve been told several several times that my blood pressure is way to high (by my OB, dentist, ect.) Yesterday at my dentist apt it was like 150/85 (something like that…I could be off a little bit). Which was actually lower than it has been when I take it at home…the bottom number is normally in the 90’s.
So I goggled home remedies on how to lower my blood pressure (I don’t want to take medication yet…unless I have to)...here are a few things I found…..
“Don’t smoke cigarettes or use any tobacco product.” – I don’t
“Lose weight if you’re overweight.” – I’m not
“Exercise regularly.” – I do 4 days a week
“Eat a healthy diet that includes lots of fruits and vegetables and is low in fat.” – I’m a vegetarian so I’m careful about my diet and eat lots of fruits & veggies.
“Limit your sodium, alcohol and caffeine intake.” – I don’t really drink much alcohol or caffeine. I Do need to be careful about sodium.
“Try relaxation techniques or biofeedback.” – I’m going to start working on this. I have a meditation CD that I’m going to start trying every night before bed…so we will see how that goes :D
I know I need to accomplish this goal sooner than later, but things are so stressful right now its been difficult. But for my own health I need to really concentrate on this!
had it checked at the pharmacy yesterday 149 / 87 much better than what it was. The latest medication seems to be ok
