So I’ve moved back home since repairs were being done including the repainting of walls. Now, the walls have a fresh coat of paint on them so they are looking beautiful. I changed rooms since moving back in so I no longer have new curtains or any curtains as a matter of fact, since we had to take them off during repairs. Once this is done, I can put a big tick next to this goal and I shall think of an appropriate way of celebrating. 6 days ago

How I did it:
I started by using an
Organizing Project Planner. I tidied, purged, re-organized and redecorated. I also have found inspirational photos online.
I think this area will always be a work in progress but for now I am quite happy on how it turned out. I might need to re-evaluate my bedroom at a later date.

I sold a chair I had in my room as a part of my “painting and selling a piece of furniture” goal. With the space it freed up I finally got space for a cupboard that has been living in my garage for probably half a year. It does a serious make-over but for now I need the space. I now finally have a space for my folders and this will free up a lot of space in my other cupboard. I am excited for some majoy organizing/purging this weekend! 4 months ago

I know I have too much crap in my room. I do have some problem with grtting rid of stuff and I do know that. But there are things like my painting supplies, scrapbooking supplies and knitting supplies that I do use, but not regularly. So I just do not know what to do with that stuff. But I was able to throw some stuff out and that makes me happy. I did a bit rearranging of the furniture as well. I am still not quite satisfied but it is getting there :) 5 months ago

How I did it: I went to Ikea to buy a new bed, sheets, nightstands and a closet. I changed my bookshelves. I put up new paintings, kept the clutter to a minimal, redecorated small stuff, moved furniture. So it feels like I'm in a whole new bedroom except for the wallpaper and curtains, there the same old ones as always. Read how I did it… 6 months ago

How I did it: Our bed was falling apart and our mattress was extremely uncomfortable. We weren't sleeping well and it was making us extremely crabby. Our dresser couldn't fit any clothes in it properly, was missing handles, and constantly need to be dusted. We had a nightstand from Ikea that was falling apart since the day it was put together.
After four years of living in this APT like this, I realized that it is time to make this place home (since we are going to live here for at least 4 more years). I took advantage of Art Van's Columbus Day sale - no tax. We bought a new bed, mattress, nightstand, and chair. I picked a storage bed so I wouldn't have to have a dresser. I went to Target and bought a mirror to replace the one I lost on the dresser. I also bought a hamper that doubles as a nightstand, and some wicker crates to hold things in like my purses. I had bought the trunk at Marshall's this summer and moved into the bedroom to be used as a undergarment drawer. I bought all new pillows and got new bedding at Crate and Barrel. I am extremely happy and love being in our new room. Although we spent a ton of money, all of our furniture matches and it is going to last well into the time we get a home. Overall, we are really happy and love our new room!

Out of all the goals I have on 43things, this has seen the most progress, I think! Since the last entry, I have:
- moved my old furnitures out – two sets of drawers which didn’t really do it’s job in terms of keeping the rooms tidy and have replaced these with a bigger set of drawers and also a dresser with a mirror. I have also bought a small table to put beside my bed. All purchased through an online auction site for a reasonable price (for furniture, anyway!).
- got new duvet covers for my bed as well as a headboard and two euro pillows. Headboards are great for feng shui and euro pillows give the room a more luxurious look. The duvet covers are in my favorite color of light mustard yellow with grey floral designs. The duvet was bought at a sale at Laura Ashley (half price!) and the headboard from mentioned auction site.
- changed my main curtain to a lighter and creamy color as well as replacing my curtain rails to those for eyelet curtains. Bought them at a sale from the local home decor store.
I am pretty happy with that way the room is starting to look. All it needs now it the curtain for the window above my bed changed (to what, I don’t know) and my walls painted – which is going to be done in about three months time when our house is getting repaired. Looking forward to finally ticking this off the list. 9 months ago

We moved from the big “master” into the smaller 2nd bedroom and turned the master into our office/entertainment room. The smaller room is nice and cozy, and it’s easier to cool down with the fan, meaning we don’t have to turn on the AC as much. We got a vanity from my parents (another project to do!) and that offers enough space for clothes that I’m going to refinish the bedroom set rather than replace it. Still need to buy some art, and the Egman wants a bench. But it feels a lot less intimidating than the big room.
But now the big room has most of the furniture from the office and the living room. So now I have a living room to fill and decorate, too! 11 months ago
