Adventure does not exist here like it does in the streets of a city. 1 week ago

If I were to attend film college…
If that is what I decide to do…
And if I boarded with my family (because they happen to live near the film college I would attend)...
I would be living in the very heart of the city of Toronto.

It seems as though everything could just fall into place.

It's a big expensive city far from home. 2 years ago

I’m drowning in this city.
I am soon being forced out of my house. (my roommate is leaving and I can’t afford to live there alone.)
I can’t find an affordable place on my own.
It’s safe to say I hate it here.

why toronto? 2 years ago

so living here my whole life makes me biased, but i think toronto is a good city to live in. if you want to live in an international city, toronto is good because it’s safe, but still lively, although it’s cold it’s not much different from new york, and definitely not as cold as montreal. another thing i like about toronto is that it’s such a “mosaic” city; different areas have completely different atmospheres. you’ve got your little italy, greek town, china town, the toronto islands, yorkville, cabbage town (with riverdale farm in the middle of it), entertainment district, queen street, the beach area, harbour front and so many others. and there is always something going on, including parades like the santa claus parade, celebrations like taste of the danforth, the film festival, jazz fest, the exhibition, winterfest, doors open toronto etc etc there’s always something to do.
i’ve been to lots of other cities, but so far haven’t found one i’d rather live in.

Four Months of Smog, Honking and Crowded Places. 3 years ago

It wasn’t all that bad. There were the good days. The day spent riding coasters at Canada’s Wonderland. Going to see Rent. Working my first grown up job.

But everyday I found myself missing home. Missing the smell of the ocean that rushes across Halifax.

Escalators only go up – not down.
Everyone leaves the city for the weekend.
Ambulances and cops scream outside me window.
I don’t have air conditioning.

The best place I’ve found is a small bar called the grasshopper whre alchoholics meet to sing kareoke. Everyone has their own bit of wise beer induced advice. It’s small and dark. Everyone drifts to the small sunken patio to chain smoke and laugh. If this was all of Toronto – I would stay.

A short stint in Toronto 3 years ago

I lived in Toronto for two years while attending the University of Toronto. Although I didn’t find the university to my taste, I loved living in the city. It’s easy to navigate, and very safe, but full of things to do. The best reason to live there, however, is the astounding number of delicious and cheap restaurants in every neighborhood.

I’ve always loved the city and I’d really like live there one day.

I think I might go on a two week vacation there to make up my mind…
