but in my city, there is no fungus among us. Not that I can find to buy to prepare myself anyway.
How to eat a real truffle
How I did it: When I was thirteen, a friend of my parents showed up with a gigantor box of truffles. Really rich, dark, one-piece-is-more-than-enough truffles. They each had one or two. I spent the entire afternoon working my way through the box. I think there was like five left, which says alot. I swore I'd never eat another.
Lessons & tips: Eat one or two, every now and then. I'm not sure if there's an art to truffles as there is with wine.

But it is the land of specialty grocery stores and gourmet shops. My search begins today.
Can a Jack Russel be trained as a truffle sniffing dog?
I even went to the Savoi region of France on a ski trip in March and unfortunately the restaurants we went to didn’t do truffles, I did go past one that did and it was only a 35 Euro meal whcih is not too bad especially when you consider that on the final night some of us went to a club and I bought the first round of 2 beers (heineken in a bottle as it turned out), one vodka orange and the smallest bottle of water you have ever seen and it all came to 76 Euros. At the time the Euro rate was around 1.3 to the pound or 1.6 dollars so thats a fair whack for a few drinks.
I thought you guys were talking about chocolate truffles. Boy was I mistaken!!
TajLV is campaigning flat out till Nov. 4
Our chef tucked thin slices of truffle beneath the breast skin of a chicken he had roasted. My goodness, what delightful surprise!
this isn’t really a connoisseur place, I work in a cafe here myself so I doubt they will have things like foi Gras, Truffles etc except at the 2 five star hotels and possibly the casino, but Sydney and Melbourne as well as Adelaide are on the horizon and they should have fine dining there.
moe than live up to their reputation. Haunting.
Just a slice of fresh truffle burtied in a mound of fresh mashed potatoes… heaven.
Fresh is key. Canned are yuck, and truffle is only good if it is very VERY fresh.
I had this pasta with truffle sauce in this wonderful restaurant in Tuscany, it was divine!
