I have started. I have a new laptop, lots of old letters I’ve written that I’ve organized by date, and all my old journal entries. Now I’ve made the commitment to type for 3 hours per week. I figure the memoir is mostly written, I just have to find it.

My mother would like me to ghost write her memoir. I think I would like to do this as her life has been very interesting and sort of has a happy ending—she’s wealthy now.

I love Laurie Notaro and Augusten Burroughs. I enjoy reading memoirs of normal people and would enjoy writing my own.

I have so many crazy stories revolving around the antics of my kids but now I’m digging deep into my memory and discovering that my childhood sounds a whole lot funnier now, than it did when I was suffering through it. So I’m enjoying writing down the thoughts and just remembering the good ol’ days.

I can’t get started but I think about this constantly! Everyday!

...what my memoir would be called. It’s one of those things that hits you like a huge bug that splatters on your windshield and you can’t clean it off until you reach your destination-or, in this case, write the damn memoir.

When I lived in Italy, I had the pleasure of meeting Lawrence Ferlinghetti which was, and this goes without saying, one of the most thrilling and unforgettable moments of my life and career. What made it even more memorable, though, was the first sentence he spoke to me. I was introduced as “St. Andrews’ poet-in-residence.” (Remember that I go to St. Andrews College.)

In this raspy, aged, terribly sexy voice, Lawrence fucking Ferlinghetti, gold hoop earring and all, said, “She doesn’t look like a saint to me.”

am I supposed to start?!
I’ve kept journals since third grade and I’m pretty excited to start writing. I actually have a bunch of personal narrative type essays that could somehow be put together to make something decent. I don’t know if anyone would ever care to read about my life, but I sorta feel like it’s my calling. I feel like my purpose is to share my story.
But where the heck do I start…?
