un_traceur is calculating surveys for a science fair project
Well, I looked at my list and realized that I can make a career list of 20 pages… so I think what I should do is to try things out for myself, kind of like broadening my interests. I’ve got lots of time, so I can research and try them out. Who knows? I might find something that I’m talented at and brings a sense of significance.

un_traceur is calculating surveys for a science fair project
This has been troubling me for a year now. Well, maybe a list would help:
1. No office job… I can’t sit for long periods of time. Gotta move!
2. Computers are ok, but staring at a screen is not what I want.
3. Makes some money. I’m not saying I want to be wealthy (but that would be nice) but I don’t want to poor and live in my parents house.
4. Art has always been a part of my life, and will always be, one way or another. An art job would be the best. If only it paid well…
5. Human behavior and mind manipulation is cool. I wonder how long this interest would last though. I’ve done projects in this area, and they were all interesting, but it’s just that: interesting, nothing else.
6. I love to workout, run, jump, climb, and give advice on all that. I do parkour, so a career involving movement would be sweet!
7. Traveling is awesome: on plane, on boat, and on foot. One of my dreams is to travel the world. Language, culture, adventure, history… I love learning it and talking all about it.
8. I love learning different languages. Currently, I’m learning French and Japanese (all 3 types) and I enjoy that.
Now I see that language, history, fitness, and art are my strengths.
(wow, that only took 10 minutes!)
Guess I’ll try to figure out possible careers from this…

At only 19 no one really expects you to know what you want to do with your life, but i feel like everyone around me seems to have a defined choice but i’m finding it so hard how do i know what i want to do over the next year never mind the next 60. Maybe the problem is that i dont really have one thing that i’m amazing at and that i rally enjoy. Also i enjoy nearly everything i do.

After shadowing a few occupational therapists, I have discovered that this is what I really want to do for a living. This realization is fueling a drive to make changes in my life and at the same time giving me a little piece of inner peace. ;)
Several months later…. I am nearing the end of my first semester as I’m enrolled in an occupational therapy assistant program. So far I’m doing pretty well. I’m anticipating the start of fieldwork next semester – 6 weeks in pediatrics.

One day i decided that finding my life’s meaning was what i wanted to do from then on… or at least the next ten minutes. So i started my quest to find the meaning of not life in general but mine only, i don’t have time for people who can’t do it them selves. I started by looking under my bed, as most good quests start and continued in a spiral pattern with the focus as my bed. I was about 30 seconds into this when i saw the most peculiar thing, a spinning bladed something that bore down on me like a vicious spinning blade thing does. I later realized that i had gotten dizzy from walking around in a circle and collapsed only to be looking up at my ceiling where i had the fan on. This was because it was a hot day i have not air con in my house. Just at that moment a horde of flying bird ninjas jumped out from the inside of my set of draws and attacked me. They were dipping and diving and even pecking me with their sharpen becks of death. I killed most of them but there was one persistent one who just kept coming at me and wouldn’t stop no matter what i did so i started running. I ran and ran and ran until i could run no more then i ran some more until i was finally rid of the bird. I made it my life’s mission to train hard and eventually kill that fearsome bird with nothing but my bare hands oh and a baseball bat. And that my friends is why you should never look for your the mean of your life.

I think my first semi-goal would be to break down what: “to do with my life” means. Career? Family? Friends? Hobbies? Feelings?
Probably should give it a bit more thought than just this entry. Hopefully I will write down my thoughts on at least one of the above (or maybe a list of fields I hope to accomplish semi-goals on.

With the following stipulations:
1. Job satisfaction is a must. I already have a career that I get little satisfaction out of, I don’t need 2.
2. Shorter term careers (yes, I am aware of the oxymoron here) will be given preference. I do grow bored easily and boredom is not satisfaction (see 1).
3. Careers that support my other goals are a bonus.
4. Flexibility is required. There is nothing more important to me than my children’s plays, dance recitals, gymnastic shows, and the odd, for no reason lunch date.
5. No early mornings, I am really lucky to get the kids to school on time, anything earlier just isn’t going to happen.
6. It is possible for me to achieve it. I don’t want to show up on American Idol (okay, Canadian Idol) in 2 years and end up being laughed at by a nation-which I guarantee would happen if I tried to sing.
So, any suggestions? Based on #6 the following careers have been entertained and removed:
