Not sure where things stand with the Save the Cameo campaign, but I still intend going along to see movies there, so I’m marking this goal completed.
And I never go to multiplexes if I can help it.
Just the Filmhouse and The Cameo:)

Caché was very good. It’s the second Michael Haneke movie that I’ve seen.
Both the leads in it were superb.

Went to The Cameo to see Sophie Scholl which tells the story of the actions of some brave young Germans in 1943.
Sophie was a remarkable young woman.
Maybe Michael Haneke’s Caché, tomorrow.

Looks like I’m not going to make it to the cinema in January. I was put off going to see Match Point by some reviews I read. There’s Walk the Line and Hidden coming up next weekend, so maybe I’ll get along to see these.

CityScreen’s Planning Application has been withdrawn, as of 23rd December.
Apparently no reasons were given. The Cameo remains up for sale, however.

Joyeux Noël based on what happened in the trenches December 1914. An interesting international co-production.

The Constant Gardener a very gripping, hard hitting drama set in Kenya and based on a John Le Carre novel. One of the best films I’ve seen in a long time. Pharmaceutical companies, corruption, a love story, Africa. By the director of City of God.
Cinema 3 at The Cameo was packed.
Several good movies showing there in the next couple of months as well.

...The Robot Co-op blog entry on Remind your future self
I wished I’d seen this earlier because I missed making my objection to City Screen’s planning proposal. Although it’s clear from my previous post that I understood that I had to do this before today (Friday 9th December) it seems like I also believed I would have the opportunity to be able to make my objection today. The savethecameo site states:
OBJECTION DEADLINE: Friday 9 December.
PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU SUBMIT YOUR OBJECTION BEFORE THIS DATE!
So really the deadline was Thursday 8 December? In this age of electronic communications it seems times as well as dates can be crucial. In future though I know how to remind myself of approaching goal deadlines.
I am kicking myself for missing this.
