I am happy with the morning pages, but the artist’s date is difficult for me to keep – I’ll need to put more effort in, promise to start at the weekend.

Holiday reading 6 months ago

I’m glad I brought this book on my trip. It’s a good one to read small sections at a time. I’ve been reading it by the pool and on the beach (in between getting in the water, lazing around and having cocktails ;) I’ll try to do some of the exercises too, as I can see them helping me along this creative path I choose to follow :)

Borrowed a copy 9 months ago

of this book from a relative. I happened to notice it on the shelf, and thought it would be a good idea to check it out. I have noticed it mentioned several times on other 43T lists.
I don’t feel inclined to commit to the 12 week self discovery program, but I am sure I will find some interesting suggestions and exercises. From what I have read so far, this book looks like a valuable tool for those having trouble connecting with the creative side of themselves or needing a push in the right direction.
I all ready feel like I have addressed that issue previously, so I prefer just to select those parts of the book that I feel are relevant to me. After reading a few chapters I may change my tune and jump on board. We’ll see!

The Artist's Way 2 years ago

‘The Artist’s Way’ almost seems to be an arising sub-culture on 43 things. There are so many goals associated with Julia Cameron’s inspirational writings and each goal is complimented by testimonies of inspired creativity. I think one of the greatest downfalls of our society is that we try to categorize art and creativity. In seeking to define it, we actually limit its potential and sabotage the true essence of ‘creative thinking’.

Art, Creativity, Design… is interpretative. It cannot be boxed, defined or limited in its interpretation just as our own creativity knows no constraints. The Artist’s way is about fostering this creativity, ignoring societal confines, rules and expectations and exploring our innermost wells of creative inspiration. I bought Cameron’s book ‘The Artist’s Way’ on the weekend and hope to make it a priority over the next month to read this and a few of her other renowned works.

Okay... 2 years ago

I think I will drop this one and go with the Leonardo da Vinci book instead. I was raised by a family of artists and I am a designer. I don’t think I need to find the artist within me, at least not yet. If I look and find there isn’t one there, I will go get this book.
