This was one of the best experiences of my life.
I’m going back.

I hate to fly, but this was worth 10 hours of my worst fears. I loved it, and it is just as perfect as you might imagine. I think I probably ate my way through and it was so worth it. oh and be careful to check the hours of the Cistene Chapel, they aren’t normal. I can’t wait to go back!
Rome is a beautiful experience. Gelato is a gift unique to Italy. The pavestones, the churches, the hospitality. Its just a great experience. I didn’t have to deal with tour guides or hotels because I went with a group of people and we chose to stay at a convent for half the trip and there were nice italian families that put us up (separately) for the remainder. The family of which I was a tenant even gave me a surprise birthday celebration. This is a trip that will remain in my heart.
We stayed at the Hotel Cosmopolitan. Good location but noisy as hell. We walked, took the buses, the metro everywhere. The buses are fun even though most of the drivers don’t speak English. Just get a map and know where you’re going. Avoid taxis – the drivers will rip you off and they’re way overpriced. The most incredible things we did in rome:
- St. Peter’s Basillica and the Sistine Chapel.
- The coliseum
- the pantheon
- Pistachio gelato
Yikes, that was 7 years ago now and that’s about all I remember. : )
Rome is amazing!! I loved the Colloseum, St Peters, The Trevi Fountain, The Vatican museums and the Sistine Chapel… The people were lovely, food out of this world. Me and my housemate went and had the most fantastic time. There is so much to see and do!
