AaroninsouthMN is thinking road trip.
It is a long book but very well done.
fugitive247 is grateful.
I read the short version of The Stand back in the 80s when it first made the rounds. Several years ago I read the uncut version before the motion picture was released. The Stand is worthwhile in either the short or long version. However, for those who’ve watched the motion picture but read neither print version, I suggest reading the uncut work. It fills in many of the plotline gaps from the short version which did appear in the movie.

I have finally finished reading this book! I loved the beginning few hundred pages (sounds funny to say it like that, but the book is over 1,100 pages long), then found my interest lagging here and there through the mid-section. I stalled at about 2/3 of the way through and read other books instead. As the end of the year started closing in, I decided to commit to finishing it. The last 150/200 pages were good, so really all I needed to do was push through the slow section I was languishing in.
I saw the mini-series before I read the book. The mini-series is what got me interested in reading the book in the first place. It was interesting to see the differences. A few changes made by the mini-series just don’t make much sense to me. Why didn’t they just stick with what was written instead of give some events a different meaning? Grrrr. After reading the book, I think the mini-series was not well cast. The film’s Frannie (Molly Ringwald) and the book’s Frannie seemed like two different people to me.

I’m on the home stretch now! I’m still liking the story and can’t wait to see how it all comes together in the end….Please let the ending be good, please!!!!!
I’ve always wanted to read it, and got my hands on the extended version a while back.

Slow going because I can’t carry the book with me. Good so far…Can’t wait to see where this story goes.

But WOW what a great start.
I’m reading this book as a great jumpstart to my goal of 15,000 pages in a year. When I finish it will be the longest book I have ever read.
erihu is looking forward to the new house
