get a macaw

How much space do you suggest having to make a macaw comfortable? I live in a 1 bedroom basement suite that I am renting and have various other pets (2 cats 2 large aquariums with snakes and fish in them), I worry it’s too small and that I won’t have a spot for a big enough enclosure. I really do want a macaw, but I will wait till I get my own (larger) home if I must

I recently got my blue-throated (caninde) macaw. She’s the light of my life. Her name is Kailani, which means sea & sky in Hawaiian. I love her so much. She’s a bit pushy and hard to handle at times, but all macaws are ;)

It’s totally worth getting a macaw, as long as you have the time and space for one. They sense intimidation. I know this for a fact because she tries to bite both my parents who are afraid of her. She’s totally a sweet cuddly bug with me though. She’ll lay on me, go on her back, and let me rub and pet her all over. She’s like a feathered dog. It’s wonderful.
