Ikea has this ‘design your own closet’ system, which I’ve used to create my perfect closet. It took my parents and I a couple of hours to put it together, but I now have an awesome closet, and an entire room for it :). I’ve also added my shoe rack (should get another one, have a lot of shoes) and now I just have to put up my full-length mirror.
It’s a fun indulgence, and I like to think that it saves me time in the morning as well :)
How to have a walk-in closet
How I did it: When I moved into my first own apartment I figured I'd need a study. Having three rooms made it easy. I furnished a living room, a bedroom and a study. But after half a year I had to admit: I had never used the study, not even once. So I decided to make somthing else out of the third room. Something that would make more sense. A walk-in closet, twenty square meters of clothes and shoes. I took my old closet out of my bedroom and placed it in the new walk-in closet. I Decided to keep if for old clothes I which I hardly ever wear. Instead of the closet I put my writing desk into the bedroom. I thought I might get more peace and privacy working in there - and it turned out I was right. The giant bookshelf was being put into the living room, where I had to rearange just some flowers and a massive wooden chest. But it looks awesome this way. In the walk-in closet I installed pole systems - those you find in a store - and open racks - like you see them in stores as well. It fells wonderful. Every morning I walk into my closet and feel like I'm a star in my very own fashion store. Could there be a better start for a new day?
