If I had the extra money, or if it was covered by insurance, I would do this in a heart beat. I’ve had terrible vision since First Grade, and now am at a point where I’m legally blind without contacts or glasses. It would be soooo nice to wake up, and just see.

How I did it: It's so much better than I expected. No more glasses and contact lenses. It's like u wake up everyday to a clear clear world.I just signed up for the procedure from a trusted doctor. The actual lasik surgery took less than 10mins. It's the preparation part that long. They examine your eyes and put all sorts of drops into it to thicken the cornea..The hard part is after because it can get a bit uncomfortable for a few days since you'll sta… Read how I did it…

i don’t know when i’ll get to, because i’m young, and it’s quite expensive… but i REALLY want to do it someday!
I hate my eye-glass! I want to be active and sport lifestyle. I think my eye-glass is offensive.
I keep switching to my glasses until I get sick of them, then I switch to my contacts until I get sick of them, then back to glasses…and on and on.
I need to get this surgery done someday.
Vgimlet The fall storms are starting to roll in.
I keep thinking I’ll use this as a reward when I get down to my goal weight. But, I would love to be able to get this done before I need to start wearing reading glasses.
I keep imagining myself being able to wake up and not having to worry about where my glasses are, or go out in the hot tub without either having to be blind, or wear my glasses that get steamed up, or put in contacts…there are a thousand reasons to do it.
I used credit for about $150/month for 24 months or about $3500 to pay for Lasik. I first went to a local place that does the surgery. I tried to find one who had done a lot of them. I did my first exam to see if I was eligible (cornea thickness, no scarring on middle of lens, no lazy eye, that type of thing). Then I scheduled an appointment for a month later. I went in early that morning (took the day off) took about 2-3 hours of waiting and care info. I then went home and slept. The longer your eyes are closed afterwards the quicker your eyes should heal. Wore sunglasses even to watch tv. Within 48 hours after surgery I had 20/16 vision.
I’m almost legally blind in one eye, and I have had contacts since I was 11 years old. I HATE being tied to optical devices just so I can see the world.
amoroma is stressed but it's getting better
Have to figure out all sorts of thinks: financing, who will take care of me the days after it (?), where I want to do it, talk to a doctor, talk to people who have done it…
got the preliminary screening – now to figure out how to get a flex. spending account at work to make it happen – scheduled for early 2009!
mkcteal is making her first list
For me, the decision to get lasik came down to the fact that I might not pass my next mandatory medical for work and no medical = no employment. I worried about the potential for complications, but in the end it was a great decision. I’ve been glasses free for 4 years and loving it!
