and I’m ready to start exploring the world of ‘medium-format’.
I bought a Yashica Mat-124. It’s a Twin-lens camera, this model was made between 1968 & ‘71. It’s describes as the ‘spirited underdog younger brother of the Rolliflex.’
Now I’m waiting for it to arrive. Waiting, waiting, waiting…
I need to consider the placement of my subject within the frame. I shot six rolls of film lately and when I got them back there wasn’t one good picture amoung them. It did give me an opportunity to observe some of my mistakes though, with one of the biggest being too much space over the head of the subject:
I know why I do it. I use the the split focusing screen in the viewfinder and focus on the face of my subject – which puts the face of the subject in the middle of the picture. Must start pulling the center lower and filling more of the frame with the subject.

People could always see me with a camera on my hands capturing something, so I always wished to be a good photographer, but I couldn’t do that without a good camera… This year I bought a used camera (Fujifilm FinePix s3500) just to try myself with something better and I think until now I am good. I have a friend who makes really great photos and he helps me sometimes with the technique and everything… But I think that’s not enough I want to improve even more, so now I am hoping to buy a good D-SLR camera, but without asking money from my parents, so my first step to becoming a good photographer is to get a good job this summer and make some money and buy the new camera… so wish me luck :)
i want to beacome a photographer…i have good ideas. but i need some help in how doing all this…and maybe some classes of photography…
Once upon a time I had a wonderful camera (film – SLR). I was very comfortable with it and took many fine photos. Then it was stolen. I have not yet found a camera (film or digital) that gives me the same confidence as that old one. I feel I need to learn more about photography in general and to just start going out and taking photos again. Sounds like a simple enough start but in my crazy life even simple things need time and I have very little free time to spare. Where do I start?
So my fiance bought a pretty nice camera. Next thing I know I’m craving to take pictures. Does anyone like this? thanks
So I went on this trip to Colorado. It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. I kind of discovered that I love photography! It is the perfect type of creative art for me because I cannot draw or create something from scratch but I am very good at knowing what looks good when I see it especially when it is Gods creation in nature. I’m good at adjusting factors such as focus and zoom and lighting and more complex factors to create good photographs. Now I just gotta find the money to buy my own good camera. Can’t always be borrowing the one I was using on vacation now…
