szegarra is engaged!!!
it’s such a great workout, and I love swimming, I used to be really good, I just need to be able to afford a gym membership.
How I did it: I started slow and only swam 15 minutes at a time, using a kickboard when I was tired. I have slowly built up time in the pool (and muscles!), and it has helped me to lose weight. Now I'm addicted to swimming again, and nothing feels better than starting my day in the pool.
Lessons & tips: do what you can to start, you'll get better as you go. Allow your body to adapt
Resources: my triathalon training plan helped b/c it listed what activities to do on which days.

6½ miles away from home, they have a pool and they’re open till 10 pm. I’ll pay them a visit this week to find out more (specially $ factor).

On A Clear Day, an Irish movie about this guy who gets laid off from work and decides to swim the English Channel [there seems to be an Irish theme in my life this week]. I used to be really good at swimming when I was a kid, used to compete and everything, but had to stop because I was getting ear infections every other week (not fun). I was thinking throughout the whole movie that this is something I really enjoyed, it could be a good de-stresser now and a good way to exercise.
So I’m going to look into this, where I can practice, how much it costs, etc.
Edit: I’ve been laid off too, but I won’t be swimming the English Channel :p
used to go swimming twice a week, even three times, now I don’t go at all. I just think I should get back into it. _
