Rashame was born to serve.
I think my list of unread books I own has grown to over 100, mainly because I tend to go overboard at garage sales. I think it would be wise to actually read them before I go hunting again.

Being an English major, I have the time-consuming pleasure of assigned reading…this is seriously going to put a dent in my pleasure reading habits, but nevertheless, I press onward in finishing the list.
I’m trying to make it through The Turn of the Screw, which is actually way more interesting than I anticipated. It’s a skinny one, so hopefully I can cross that off the list soon.

The whole point was to finish books that I already own before purchasing more…I totally broke that rule and will probably do it again today (but this time I’m on the lookout for a few specific books). I bought and read Still Life With Woodpecker by the fabulous Tom Robbins…wasn’t his best, but I still enjoyed it. I also bought (but plan to hide) two other Tom Robbins novels as well as David Sedaris’s Holidays On Ice. I’m currently working on finishing Pride & Prejudice because it’s a borrowed copy (the first copy I purchased from Goodwill was a printing defect), and I’m trying to read at least two chapters of Einstein a day (it’s heavier with science than I expected).

but the list is still shrinking.
I finished Me Talk Pretty One Day (hilarious) and Wuthering Heights (I actually really enjoyed it!) and am currently working on Ella Minnow Pea.
My remaining list!
-Einstein
-The Picture of Dorian Gray
-Frankenstein
-Northranger Abbey and Other Works
-A Tale of Two Cities
-Morrie: In His Own Words
-Ethan Frome
-To Kill A Mockingbird
-The Awakening
-Great Expectations
-The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time
-Mockingbird
-The Poisonwood Bible
-Dry
-Ultima Thule
-Albert Einstein: The Love Letters
-The Turn of the Screw (maybe)
-The Plague (maybe)
-Fear and Trembling (big maybe)
Also, if I’m feeling up to it, I might re-read Catch-22, Light in August, and The Secret Life of Bees.
The temptation of brand-spankin’-new books will probably just be too much for me, though…
[EDIT: Finished Ella Minnow Pea and Ethan Frome over the weekend, and I’ve finally started the intimidating Einstein biography…HOO-RAH!]

I got a little over halfway through my Goodwill copy of Pride & Prejudice before I discovered (with much surprise and complaining) that I had purchased a printer reject…it jumps from page 208 to 273, and then a hundred or so pages later, jumps back to 273 again. Delightful! So, I’m going to borrow a friend’s copy and finish it then, and in the meantime I’m enjoying David Sedaris’s Me Talk Pretty One Day, which is gloriously funny and refreshingly well-written. My pile of unread books is shrinking rapidly!

I have about twenty to go…I’ll finish The House at Pooh Corner and Rozencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead this afternoon, hopefully!
