I did the highschooler’s version – basically Breadloaf Lite. It was fantastic, but a little isolated. Not being able to call my family kinda freaked me out for particular reasons, but if you are looking for a retreat it would be great. Bring an umbrella – there’s nothing you can do if it rains. Which it did. The whole time I was there. 6 years ago

I am thinking about applying anyway. I’m curious to see if I would be accepted. I think that’s what this goal is about. 8 years ago

I read through the application and the info on the Breadloaf site, and now I’m no longer convinced that this is a good idea. The main problem: It’s too expensive, almost $2000. They have some financial aid, but it doesn’t cover everything. At the least, I would pay $1200. I’d rather spend that money on Penland, so I guess Breadloaf is out for now. 8 years ago

This is the goal I want to focus on right now, as the deadline to submit a manuscript is March 19th. Today I downloaded the application form and printed it out. The next step is to decide what work I want to send. The word limit is 6000. A short story would probably be the best… 8 years ago
