BluePlasticStraw is reminding herself that goals are important
I’m now within walking distance so I’m going to start walking now that the weather is better.
Donna Good Day Sunshine
I have a colleague who lives in the neighborhood. I picked her up, and we parked about a 1-1/2 miles away. It was a beautiful morning and it took us 25 minutes on a dedicated nature path near our office.
After work, we walked back to my vehicle. Yay! That’s a total of 50 minutes of walking today, with some companionship, and enjoying nature.
I have been trying this for about 2 years! I start off doing it and then it tails off. I think it is because I make a big fuss about it, and it doesn’t fit into my daily routine – instead sticks out like a huge effort, which inevitably I can’t sustain. Another problem is that I get up too late and haven’t got time to walk, as it takes about 40 mins (car journey is about 10mins).
When I walk to work I feel great. It also gives me much needed exercise. And a chance to think, and look around me.
I would like to walk to work every day (unless there is a very particular reason not to), apart from Fridays.
I did this last Thursday (I actually got lost on the way, trying to cut the corner across a residential area!) and as it’s only about 35-40 minutes’ walk, I am hoping to do this every day from now on, both to and from work. This should have some impact on my health and fitness anyway :)
did this today. quads are killing me but that might have something to do with all those lunges and squats i did yesterday. meh.

I haven’t been able to walk to work because we have about three feet of snow on the ground right now and all the sidewalks are covered. It has been raining the last few days, though, so hopefully they’ll be clear in a few days. I don’t plan on copping out on this one. I just don’t want to walk to work when it is unsafe to be in the roads.

This one is so easy, that I don’t know why everyone doesn’t do this. Right now it’s a bit tricky, since the sidewalks are covered by snow, and it’s a little dangerous walking down the roads. However, I’m going to make an effort to walk regardless of the weather. I’m not sure how this will change when I move out. Perhaps I will change this goal to “ride my bike to work” when I move.
I live so close to work it’s insane that I let the whole summer go by without walking every day to work! It only takes me about 15 minutes. I usually just get up too late to walk. Pure laziness on my part. I’m going to start tomorrow.
