I spent a month in India during the Summer of 2006, and I think about it every single day. I cannot wait to go back, revisit some places I loved and see new places I missed the first time.
well worthwhile…....be prepared, though…...not alot of our “modern conveniences”.....old old old country with many different traditions and customs——have an open mind and “take it all in”
I’m actually just back from India, i was there for two weeks working in a school there. It was the most AMAZING experience, not just working in the school, but just being in India, being able to experience an entirely new and different culture. I went with a grop of friends and we’ve all already decided that we want to go back next year and i cannot wait for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This time, a spot of shopping in Bombay, a 10 day whistlestop tour of Kerala and a long weekend in Delhi. Fantastic!

All my life I was fascinated by India. No idea why but it always seemed like a mystical place. I finally visited 5 years ago and it was everything I imagined it would be; one of the great experiences of my life. It’s such a huge country and I’m longing to return but don’t feel comfy going until the kids are older and a bit more resilient.
now it’s all on hold. I have been very few places in this world where being someplace felt so “right.” I just hope the US and its meddlesome ways don’t change the place too much. That would be such a crime.
I keep wondering why i love this country. after all, low standards of living, alarming poverty, crazy pollution, xenophoby (fortunately, not all indians!), corruption, lack of meritocracy, bad infrastructure, hindu/moslim conflict, dirt, smells… but still i just want to go back… i felt in love with the country and my “special one” lives over there…
