I know I go back and forth on this, but I am ready to commit! Did some heave duty boxing training down at a good spot last night! It’s always a little intimidating when there are a lot of other guys around watching, but I feel confident because I know I can throw a punch. Just gotta get faster! My husband is a GREAT coach too, I am so glad he takes the time to train me.
Christine had the most wonderful day at Penny and Tom's farm :)
Thanks to James, Renee and I managed to get slowly into boxing. He is an amazing and patient trainer. It is one of the very first sports I really enjoy doing and do not mind doing some extra sacrifices to get a little better every week.
Status to date – Warmup15×3 pushups – During the first round I already feel my arms wobbling and never actually go down low enough to call any of these contortions a pushup. Knees seem inexpendible in round two and three. My heart is in it though.
15×3 benchpresses – It is rather funny to feel this monsterous weight (the bar only) hang shakily above my head. I probably could do 10×3 comfortably without giving up, so there is still room to improve.
15×3 squats with 4kg dumbells – MOOing SH!T house. I am sorry, but these are killing my thighs. I was out of order for 2 entire weeks.
Maybe I should try them without weights.
Boxing itself: I love the rhythm, still am terrible at getting low enough to drop and hit anyone in the stomach (probably because my legs were destroyed while I was doing squats)... But in theory I think I get the basics and just hope to get stronger arms, so I can hold them up better.
So far noone has attempted to hit me in the face, although James let Renee and me try to sample a few pummle hits into his cheek. It made me feel terrible the first time, but we are getting slowly used to it.
Last session Renee and I tried to push one another somewhat gently, whilst the other tried to deflect. As serious James is, he probably was laughing on the inside. We looked like two bimbos in a pillow-fight. But it was really, really great. I loved it.
Can’t wait for more.

Did some boxing training (sparring, mits, shadow boxing, etc), and it felt good. FINALLY found a spot where I can regularly train 2 times a week (plus our other spot over the weekend) with a potential for 3-4 times a week… Of course I was all ready to train tonight, but can’t since my feet are all busted up! Hopefully by next week I can start the routine :D

Did my boxing training during the weekend, and it felt good! I felt like I had more energy and endurance. My husband even commented that I sparred my best this time around :D I am finding that breathing is extrememly essential and makes a huge difference in my training :D

It’s been a super long minute since I’ve boxed, but finally trained today and it felt so good even though I was pouring buckets of sweat! I shadow boxed, punched the bag for several rounds, sparred 3 rounds with my husband, and did my mits. I need to make more time for this!
rob_o_b is studying.
I have the chance to learn this month, my first session is even scheduled. But, i have a chance to spend a month on the road with my best friend out west, seeing stuff I’ve never seen before and camping for a month. Tough decision, but I’m gonna have to wait to learn how to box.

Within the recent weeks, I’ve slowly gotten back into boxing, and I am really glad about it. Luckily my awesome husband trains me, and he does a great job at that. I’ve just been going once a week for now (but plan to up it to 2-3 times soon), but with each session, he has me train for about 3 hours; it’s exhausting! The guys let me participate in their warm up which is nice and involves a lot of sit ups, stretches, running in place and other drills. Following that, I usually shadow box for a good 3 rounds, followed by punching bag, doing mits, and sparring with each being 2-3 rounds as well. Oddly, it feels good; especially afterwards! Jamba Juice has definitely become my newfound friend—I highly recommend the “Orange Dream” :D

Definatly fun, but i got to figure out how not to freak out when the punches start flying. I have to calm down, remember my techniques, and utilize them properly. Was doing doing some hard sparring a few days ago and i started covering up a lot and throwing haymakers…massive tunnel vision didn’t help either…
any tips on how to keep a clear head??
