yeah, so.
anytime i buy food, i buy organic . unless it’s NO OTHER WAY .
this can get really expensive.
my health is my wealth !
although i heard of laws, or future laws preventing the growth of certain plants, i seek to start growing my own food .
soon.
thinking of starting with tomatoes, peppers, and. . small herbs .
i dunno how this will work in a one bedroom apt., but i will make it work !

Sadly, the only thing doing well is the Jalapeno plant. The tomatoes did their best but that wasn’t much. The beans grew, but didn’t flourish. The peas died quickly. The squash kept splitting open. The zucchini never took off. The herbs did ok.
Perhaps better planning next year will pay off? Or perhaps I will focus on herbs and non-edibles and not try to coax dinner out of my porch.

I put in two long skinnies, one of beans and one of peas. I also got two more rounds of zucchini and planted basil, chives, and thyme. I was encouraged by how well my first strawberry pot did, so I planted a second. And I just brought back a bunch of succulent clippings to help add visual variety w/o spending any money. Ohhh yeah.

It’s goin… ok, i guess… but, I’ve made a bunch of mistakes and feel like I’m not learnin a whole lot for next year.
Here’s what I know for next year:
Start more seeds indoors earlier.
Use trellises sooner.
Grapes need higher supports.
Bugs eat my carrots. But the seven-dust seemed to have worked to get them away.

I’ve got tomatoes and strawberries living in pots on my patio. I’ve eaten a few strawberries and I’ve got some beautiful green tomatoes in the works.
I’ve got pots for more plants, but I’m running out of time to get them in the ground. How big a pot do you need to grow a zucchini?

is a whole bunch of nothing. But I’m thinking about it. I’ve got a patio to work with, as pictured here. And we’re getting on toward winter, so I’m not sure what I should plant at the moment. I don’t really have to worry about frost but there will be cold and a lot of rain.
Any suggestions to what I should plant?

and this gets much harder. I can only do a container garden at this point, but I’m working on it. I did plant flowers is pots the other day, that counts a little in my mind.

There’s something evigorating about planting a seed and watching it grow. I imagine that this is what having a child is like. you take something so small, and seemingly meaningless and turn it into something beautiful and large that can create more of its kind. Whats more beautiful than that?
