I am in the process of working theh steps again, this time with my sponsee. What a great experience this is turning out to be. I am delevloping a relationship with another human being all for the greater good, for both of us to remain sober. We just did his fifth step and I am getting a chance to expierence first hand another alcoholic like me progressing on the road of recovery…with his help I am now only ten days away from picking up my first blue chip!!!
How to work the twelve steps
How I did it: Went to meetings. Got a sponsor. Was honest with myself. Simple but not easy - that's why it took me 5 years to get all the way through, formally. I still work them all the time, informally, though.

I want to work the 12 steps, again. I have worked through them once already with my sponsor. As I approach one year of Sobriety(Jan 28th, sweet!) i am beginning to see how I will work these steps for the rest of my life. Be it with my sponsor or with my sponsee. Thing is the only step I have to work perfectly is number 1…having finally gotten sick of feeling enough pain I was able to make one the the remaining 9th step calls I have been holding on. Now I see that when you hurt enough you will take the action to make it better. Now I remember hearing someone say when will we get to the point when we are willing to do the work BEFORE we cause all of that pain…
“We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry it out.”
I am formally working the eleventh step and you know what? When you sincerely seek God’s will, He shows it to you! How awesome is that?
