violentwife is going to be alright.
So that I could learn how to ski. But once vacation time rolled around we always decided on somewhere warm or tropical instead of to a place with lots of snow. If I can talk my husband into it. We will go!!!
How I did it: My fear of heights made this one particularly difficult. At 22, I'd never skied before. I had a great, patient friend teach me-- He'd been skiing since he was small. I had a hard time with the stopping and turning and I'm sure I looked like a fool. It was a blast learning how, despite all the 8-yr olds flying past me with crazy skills. Read how I did it…

How I did it: I went for a weekend to the mountains, had some lessons with a super cute instructor and I was ready to ski and fall like a pro ;) (especially refers to the 2nd one) Read how I did it…

How I did it: A friend taught me the basics the first time I skiied, then after that I just practiced whenever I can. I'm not that good but I can manage going down the hill without falling which feels awesome!! lol. I can't wait to ski again next winter! Read how I did it…

How I did it: I took lessons at ski resorts all over North America. Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, Colorado, and Utah. I still haven't taken a lesson at Jackson Hole, but it's on my to-do list! Read how I did it…
How I did it: I went to Denver, CO to visit some friends over Christmas/New Years and decided to try skiing since the mountains are right there. I went to Loveland Ski Area. I took a beginner lesson and then set out for the bunny slopes. I went flying down out of control. I fells, lost my skis a few times and tumbled. But it was beyond awesome. I finally got the hang of it and concurred the bunny slopes. I would do it again in a heartbeat and hope to g… Read how I did it…

I would like to learn to ski but worry because my knees are very bad. I wonder if that will put too much stress on them, but I would love to go on a brisk winter day and try to ski on a little hill to start.

If we return to NZ in time, i’d like to start learning this year :)
alright, there’s a difference between the initial learning to ski and the getting good at it part. If I can ski without injuring myself when I go to Europe later this month, I will count that as a success!
My ankle has been giving out every time I go up…Got new ankle brace and heel lifts, tho…maybe that will help. Trying to decide whether to go again or to save up my ankle so I can ski in France on vacation in two weeks…hmm…

I got my Mt Hood Meadows season pass and have been up about 15 times so far this year. I’ve rearranged my schedule so that I have Tuesdays off to go up. So far I’ve managed to be comfortable on these runs: Buttercup, T-Bar Hill, Mitchell Creek (and its offshoots), Mitchell Creek Boulevard (including the gap jump – woo hoo!), Vista Ridge, and now North Canyon. If only my ankle would quit giving out….
SweetMK Grateful and Gracious
