build a straw-bale house

My wife told me about building houses with straw while in a course about global sustainability during college. I laughed at her. I’m not laughing now. Not only are straw bale houses beautiful, they are efficient, quiet, and places of peace, when done right. They are fire-safe, compared to normal, “stick framed” houses (with little to no Oxygen, fires don’t burn well in a straw bale wall), more resistant to critters (again, densely packed straw bales are less friendly than mouse-welcoming standard insulation) and their R-rating is through the roof!
