I still havent got a band together. I find that guys are pretty sexist when it comes to bands, unless the girl sings. Is it just because i’m a female that they think i can’t rock out?
I’m pretty decent on the guitar, I’m nearly of professional quality on the violin, I can record my own music, I have good song writing skills. Why is this so hard?
Maybe i should advertise at Uni?

Being in a band is a hard thing to do. YOU have to practice and practice. I tried to get my band together again. We had to much to do.
Its a huge commitment to make. But if you really get into it it can be a great thing to do. My advice is try it and if it doesnt work out dont be discouraged.

matsherwood looking for the non-linear domain of infinite possibility
And make sure everyone is in it for the same reasons (if playing with other people.) There are few experiences that come close to performing live music; it is incredible.

I started out drumming about a year ago and, despite procrastinating
I’ve managed to become pretty decent. Recently my drum teacher set me up with this guy named Phil who’s talking about starting up in April. I’m kind of really shy and never put myself out there but I figured, why not take a chance for once? I know that everyone in the band will have completely different music taste but, I’m hoping it all works out. Fingers crossed.

Some of my best friends started playin together and that i guess was what really got me into music. I started playing guitar the year before high school and after a year or two I started playin with them. I also started to play bass and we just started jamming. We ended up making some original stuff, but there was no pressure, it was great. I think that being more involved in music is something that everyone should achieve. Its one of the greatest feelings to create music. We played for a high school competition and won. The nerves though, holy shit, playing in front of that many people for the first time was amazing. Now we’ve all gone to seperate colleges, but we still stay close and jam on our breaks. Definately something that you should do!

I’m in a classic rock band. We haven’t practiced yet though, which is weird. I’m a guitarist but my bandmate really wants me to be the rhythm guitarist while he is the lead one. Ain’t gonna happen LOL!
I’m pretty nervous about our first performance and playing in front of people, but that is the spice of life!!

I originally played guitar but I didn’t really feel comfortable with it for some reason. I switched to bass and I love it. It’s such a beast haha.
My dream is to be in a metal band and tour the world. Why a metal band? Metal has helped me become stronger and deal with the bad things in my life. Now I want to create music that helps people get through life as well, just like it did for me.
I also want to show that girls can be in metal bands too, not just pop. Anyone heard of Angela Gossow? Girls like her show the rest of us that girls can rock too. I want to become one of them and hopefully inspire other girls to enter the male dominated metal world.
Heaps of people say that no one wants to play bass so I’ll definitely get a place in a band when I’m older. So all I have to do is practise :)
I haven’t formed a band yet because all the metalheads in this town are already in a band or don’t play an instrument.
So when I move to the city this will hopefully change.

so ive met a girl named anita who plays piano and sings and also can doa bit of guitar and she’s learning mandolin. she’s alot of fun to play music with, we have very similar lives prior to having met one another so it really worked out well. its kinda like there’s alot of love between us so we can really have an honest songwriting relationship thats very healthy. we’ve been trying to do the band thing but ive found that its hard to be aggressive about it when she has a job as well on the side so she works full time and that doesnt leave much for the music but its going kinda nice at least im enjoying performing with her when we get the chance and she’s also enjoying performing with me which makes me really happy i havent really played music since my friend died like three well nearly three years ago so meeting anita was really great to bring me back into it. she has to go to school in june 09 so we think the band will end then sadly so im trying to make the most of it with the time we have now. i would love to have a more long term arrangement with her or other musicians but this is the best i have right now.
