How to get a hedgehog
It made me

"I found the rarest color of hedgehog and I just had to have him"
How I did it: I wanted a hedgehog for a while and it me a while to find a reputable breeder. I drove down south to hamilton, which is a 4-5 hour drive from home to go pick him up. It also took a while to learn all the stuff there is to know about hedgehogs. I got him home and he's happy and healthy! I love him dearly.
Lessons & tips: -Don't get your hedgehog from a local petshop. Most pet shops don't specialize in exotic pets and won't know to keep a heater near by, some don't know about wabbly hedgehog syndrome (which is fatal)
-Make sure it's the pet you want, they are nocturnal and they get cranky when you play with them during the day
-When you first get him, I would start trying to handle him with oven mitts until you are comfortable with him and he's comfortable with you picking him up by his belly.

Oh my gosh, I love him. I’ve had him for a little over 2 years. He’s easy to take care of and sooo sweet. If you want one you should really get one. You won’t regret it!

i’ve wanted a hedgehog for a while now. i go up to the pet store and play with them all the time but my mother won’t let me get one until i move out.. i think that’ll be sometime next fall. yay. i want a white one.

so, sadly on march 3, 2006 my little fishy officer shoe (nee frank) passed away. i came home from work and the little guy was floating upside down. i knew it was coming, he just hadn’t been the same recently. i asked him if he would just stay and make it until his first birthday which we celebrated on march 1, 2006. he’s such a loyal fish, waited until after his birthday to move on. my good friend helped me send him off to fishy heaven. we dropped officer shoe into the water after some some short nice words. it was nice. i miss him tho. :(

so, i gave petcetera a call today, the main local pet store here. the lady gave me some details on hedgehogs..
price: $104 cdn
care: cage needs to be cleaned daily
tlc: they need to be held and hugged very often (that’s so cute!)
eat: “hedgehog food” or kitty food.. (thought that was kinda odd)
bedding: pine or cedar bedding
they only had one left.. sigh.. i dont know if i can get one yet, might have to wait a while longer.. but i think january might be the time. hmmm… continues pondering

they are just too cute! and no one try to eat mine, this one won’t be chocolate. i am planning on getting one soon. right now, i have my fish – officer shoe – and i don’t want him to get jealous. so, if the time ever comes soon when he will pass onto fishy heaven, i will get a hedgehog. next step up, i guess.
