Minneapolis is a great city. I went to college at the U. Now that I live in NYC, I’m thankful that Minneapolis was such a great stepping stone for me. I hope to move back one day!

I love Minneapolis!!! My mom, sister, and brother are up there and everytime I go visit, I never want to leave. So I made the decision to move. I quit my job, took my son out of school, had everything packed and ready to move on January 7. But then my daughter’s dad picked her up at daycare and never returned her, and I had to stay to take him to court to get her back (which I did on Tuesday, and won). It’s just temporary though until we have our final hearing, and who knows when that will be? I worry that moving now will only jeapordize my case. So I’m still here. For now. I WILL move as planned, hopefully by this summer.
Sure, Minneapolis / St. Paul are great cities. There are pockets of fabulous areas, nights where there are tons of places to go, people to see. . . but in the end Minnesota, is Minnesota. The weather is fickle and the landscape dreary. Plus it is SO spread out!! The lightrail, the buses, other pub. transport are great ideas, but you really cannot survive without a car in the cities and parking is a pain.
It’s an imposter. It tries to hard to be something it’s not.
I would stick to Madison. At least it still tries to act like a small metro, even when it’s bursting at the seams. I know so many people who have made the mirgration from WI to MN (like I did) and in the end. . . its so not worth it. There is no charm in the bleakness of the twin cities.
Okay, sorry to be a downer, here are some good points of Minneapolis / St. Paul
-The Walker
-The Guthrie
-The Science Museum
-First Avenue
-Chico Latino
-Gallaria / The Good Earth
-The Basillica
-Tejas
-Twins games
-great Korean restaurants on Snelling
-River walk
-The Minneaplois art museum (great photo collection)
-actually, I enjoy almost every part of St. Paul.
I plan on moving to Minneapolis, after I get out of the military in April 2006, to start my online website design business. It’s a perfect location, with the twin cities, to build a powerful clientele base. I can’t wait!
There is so much here like any other city all over the world and yet, i have not taken advantage of what is before me- if you relate, read the Alchemist!
