Start making my own clothes

I still need to get some fabric but it’s one step closer!! I have also been doing some drawings of clothes I would like to make. and have been paying attention to all the clothes I see that I like in magazines, patterns, stores etc, I’m trying to get inspired!!! I’m sick of not finding the clothes I want, I will make them myself!! ;D This is also helping to keep me inspired to lose some weight!!

I’m going to start out with a hoodie
massive hood big sleeves
need nice material
any ideas would be cool – something thick and soft and comfy! : )

I need a sewing machine and alot of inexpensive materials. hmmmm

I like to wear a lot of skirts and “vintage” style clothes but I can never find what I want, so I need to start designing my own! I’m really excited about it!!! I can have the exact clothes I want and there aren’t any limits!! I’m sick of thinking “I like that skirt but why can’t it be this way or that way”.

I need to get my sewing area set up!!

Ever since I was little, I’ve drawn dresses and outfits from my imagination. I’ve hardly ever sat down to make one of them, mostly because I feel that I don’t know enough. I’m going to learn by doing now! Forget complicated patterns and instructions, I’ll dive in and just DO IT! Could be amazing or terrible, I’ll keep you posted!

Okay, I don’t have a pic yet, but my skirt is done. Yay!

Well, it is all done except the hem. I also want to add some stitching around the elastic casing so make sure the elastic doesn’t turn inside it. I chose to make the skirt a tube, then fold the overlap, and make the waistband a tube and sew them together like that. The picture is what I do to make sure the two tubes are the same diameter before I start pinning and sewing them.
I think I left a stray straight pin in while I was serging it and the pin dulled my knife! I guess I need to find a place online that sells them now. sigh.
I will be posting a picture of it when it is all done.

I’ve always loved sketching out outfits I’d love to have,
but i honestly haven’t really tried to set aside the time to actually make it happen.

I have cut out my pattern and I’m ready to sew! I am using this pattern from online. Gotta like ‘free’!

I really like to sew, and to make my own clothes, as well as my kids’ clothes. I just need to set aside the time, and the money to buy nice fabric and patterns.
