but its mostly the stuff a 2 year old kid would sign, because I (and the rest of my family) all learned it for my little brother. He isn’t deaf or hard of hearing but its just a great thing for babies to learn and use. He can now communicate so much more and it has all kind of amazing benefits. I want to learn it so I can teach him some more and so that I can talk to deaf people, my mother is learning with me and it actually has some benefits to us, instead of having to yell across the room (in public) we can sign and get the message across, which is pretty cool.

How I did it: I took the course to attempt to improve communictaion with my autistic son, but the deaf woman who was taking the course got REALLY angry that i would try and use the form to stimulate speech. Apparently the attitude of the deaf community is that sign is a complete language and to ude it to stimulate speech is an insult. I do not think why you take the course is as important as the fact you are there - however I have not used the skill mu… Read how I did it…

Not that I know anyone who speaks sign language. But on Saturday I was watching my cousin demonstrate her ability to sign the lyrics of ‘The Rainbow Connection’ and I realised what an absolutely beautiful language it is to watch. It’s like dancing!
So I want to learn to dance with my hands to the music of language.

I’m loving my class! It’s a very intense course, but I love it a lot. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to take further classes next semester. Hopefully in the future I’ll be able to continue.
I wanna become a sign language teacher when i get out of high school!

In five weeks, I should know the basics of sign language! It’s gonna be really intense, but enjoyable! It’s been since HS that I was learning a new language – I’d forgotten how much I enjoy it!
