I have read Slaughterhouse Five, Cats Cradle, Breakfast of Champions, Timequake, and a Man Without a Country, which was really a lot of repeat content from Timequake. Timequake and Cats Cradle are my favorite. They all meet my criteria for great literature: they make me feel deeply and laugh out loud.

but no good reason ever to hate without reservation, to imagine that God Almighty Himself hates with you, too. Where’s evil? It’s that large part of every man that wants to hate without limit, that wants to hate with God on its side. It’s that part of every man that finds all kinds of ugliness so attractive.”
Mother Night arrived in Nome about a week ago now, and when I went to pick it up they told me it was due back June 4. So, I’ve been busily reading all week and finally finished it today. I’m hard pressed not to say it’s my new Vonnegut favorite. Definitely one for the personal library.
The copy they sent me actually came from a military base in Anchorage as it turns out, and it’s stamped no less than 10 times as “Property of the U.S. Army”. This struck me as quite funny for some reason.

this has long been an unstated goal of mine, and i regret not making it a priority sooner. i will try to compensate by utilizing my public library for his books as much as possible. i’ll have to see what they have of his on the shelf.
also, i’ll be finishing this goal by June 24th this year. or else.
just the novels mind you, though i do intend to get to his essay collections eventually as well.
