The Canyon looks stunning from the air, but it’s even more impressive if you stop on your way back and hike down into it. Gives you a really neat perspective on just how deep from the top and tall from the bottom it is.
How to fly over the Grand Canyon
How I did it: It was an accident, I was sleeping on my flight from Milwaukee to LAX and suddenly I woke up and looked out the window and there it was. It was unbelievable.

I flew from Las Vegas to New York with a window seat, and the Grand Canyon kept going for miles and miles. If you are looking for it from the air, you can follow the Colorado river from Las Vegas to Lake Mead and then you’ll fly over the canyon. It was in my view for a good thirty minutes and it’s pretty obvious that you’re flying over it. I haven’t seen it from the ground, but it must be huge. I giggled to myself when I remembered that Kevin Smith movie where Silent Bob finally busts out to Jay: “What you don’t know could fill the Grand Canyon with orange juice”. Lotta orange juice…
If you’ve not already got flying over the grand canyon in a helicopter on your list… add it now
