Great state to visit. Acadia NP is worth seeing. I pretty much followed the coast from Portland up to canadian border.crossed into canada to visit Roosevelt’s summer home.Spend a day in Lubec or on the highest peak in Acadia(you can drive up that one) so you can be the first person in the US to see the sun rise. How I did it: My college friend has family in Maine with property on a private lake.  So mainly what we did was got maps from AAA and followed the highlighted route.  It took 12 hours to drive which we did all in one day.  We stayed with various family members and we enjoyed the beautiful country, lakes, blueberries, and relatives.  We went almost every year for 8 years until I moved to Oregon.     Read how I did it… 17 months ago
