I lived in Burlington, Vermont for a while and just loved the city and the people (the weather drove me away). I miss Vermont!

We stayed in a cabin in Jeffersonville, VT in 2002. It was a great change of pace from Long Island, NY. We did typical touristy things with our little kids like Vermont Teddy Bear factory tour, Ben and Jerry’s Factory Tour, shopping, eating at restaurants, seeing covered bridges, etc. Beautiful, would love to live there sometime.

    yakuza who has missed me?

I’ve been to Vermont a number of times, always in the winter. I think I’m going to try to go up next fall and see the fall foliage and maybe go mountain biking. I can just imagine how beautiful it is during the rest of the year.

I’ve been to Vermont a number of times now, and I have a lovely time every time I visit.

There’s a book called Hands on the Land that explains how Vermont evolved a s socialist republic (It is a socialist republic and not just another state, after all :) and how that shaped the people who lived there and their ideas about architecture, landscaping, and living in harmony with nature and the mountains around them in general.

Some of my favorite areas are Woodstock, VT (beautiful little town with lots of interesting things to see and many cultural atractions (galleries, museums, artsy little shops) as well as some gorgeous landscape. Texas Falls – a really huge waterfall with a very nice walking trail surrounded by acres of Green Mountain National Forest where primitive camping is allowed. In the town of Hancock which is nearby the falls, you’ll find the Vermont Home Bakery – amazing food and nice atmosphere – you get to sit on the front porch with a mountain view and eat breakfast!

Try to be aware though that the locals actually live there. I’ve seen some downright boorish, rude and embarrassing behavior on te part of some tourists.
