Ume, B and I went to the Cygnet Herb and Organic Expo today and sat in on a wonderful lecture about Bee Keeping.
This wonderful man runs an Adult Education course next September, which we are all keen to attend. He was so enthusiastic and inspiring, that we know this can be feasible ~ yay!!!

I’m coating your driveway in honey and there’s nothing you can do about it.

I know this may sound odd to people but I want to learn to raise bees and make honey! If anyone living in a cold climate like me(Canada) has any advise….....let me know! Thanks.

Well, Mr Jingels husband bought me a book on raising bees and making honey. So this is a great beginning. Am slowly working my way through it

So I went to “bee school” on Sat. There were about 400 people there – who knew it would be so popular? There is so much to learn. I have the basics down for raising bees – but only in the abstract. Honestly I would prefer to work with a mentor or someone willing to walk me through a demo. Still nervous about those stings. As for making honey…didn’t even get that far yet. Regardless, bees are amazing. Nature is truly a wonder, manifest in no better example than a bee colony.

I signed up for an all-day workshop featuring bee-keeping introductory classes. March 12 – run by Ohio State University through their extension campus. I’m excited to see if bee-keeping is a realistic thing for me (in the city).
