Giving Up on This... 2 years ago

The delays just never got resolved, and the longer it took, the more squeamish I got about shelling out the money for it.

I guess my next goal will be to get the house back in shape after being in total chaos for over four months.

The Continuing Saga... 2 years ago

I could not get anyone on the phone at Home Depot, and my messages had not been returned, so I stopped by today. Turns out no progress has been made on my quote since my last visit two weeks ago! So the person who helped me last time, and who had left a message with the person who prepares the quotes, left yet another “HOT” message. So we’ll see. Looks like I might need to find someone else to do this job.

    Progress! 2 years ago

Finally got the materials problems straightened out. Required an adjustment of the design plan on my part, but oh, well. The person who calculates the bids won’t be able to work on it until Monday, but I should finally get the bid then.

Not a moment too soon, because one of my friends, whose assistance (well, his truck) is critical, is only available until 8/4, and not back again until the end of the month.

Update - this is getting old! 2 years ago

The first place called two weeks after coming to measure, and this after I had called them more than once without a return call. At this point, I’d already made an appointment for another measurement from Home Despot.

The sales rep told me apprx. how much wood was needed (500 sq. ft.) but couldn’t give me a dollar amount for some unknown reason. He said he’d get back to me. Have not received a follow up call, but I had already estimated this place would be at least $1000 more than HD with an inferior product.

HD also took a couple of weeks to get back to me, again, with several messages left. This time, I received a message that the material I had originally picked was not suitable for my sub-floor (concrete) and that I would need to come back to choose another material.

I went to HD tonight and was not able to work with anyone, since there was only one clerk and several other people waiting for assistance. I suppose I could have- should have- waited, but after waiting about 10 minutes I got a phone call and left.

sigh I guess I’ll have to try again tomorrow.
