dewaddikt picked 43, now I just need to get started!
We’ve tried, and failed, two other times to start a garden. It’s something that I really want to do, but can never seem to be motivated enough to see it through.
How I did it: by buying the bush, and putting it in front of my apt.and putting a plate under it. and watering it. and cleaning off my patio for more plants and herbs in the spring. Read how I did it…
How I did it: Sprouted the seed inside a bag, I'm growing Johnny Jumpups, Sweet Williams, Morning Glorys, California Poppys, Salvia, Cilantro, Four o Clocks, Basil, and Lavender. For now. I put them in seperate labeled bags. Then when they sprouted I put them either in the ground or in a pot with some miracle grow. Now that they are outside 2 of the morning glory plants are peaking through the dirt. Hopefully they all will be soon. Read how I did it…
How I did it: All it took was a couple trip to Lowe's -- it was a lot easier than I thought it would be! We planted: onions, zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, beans, peas, tomatoes, and a bunch of herbs (I can't remember all of them), and we're sprouting carrots and cucumbers! Read how I did it…
How I did it: I had my boyfriend hang up the trellis on the sheds so the vines could grow up them. I went and got the soil and raked all of it. My boyfriend then planted the two vines, and I put the seeds in the ground. Its only been a few days so we will see if anything grows. Its my first garden, and I'm excited to see what I get. Odalisque san diego!
Need
a) a house with a yard or b) a window box for the balcony
I want to plant all sorts of delicious veggies. I have a big balcony (it’s about 6×10) so I think I can put quite a few boxes on it. I just have to make sure Hurricane Audrey (my two year old) doesn’t destroy it. And all those pesky neighbor cats. Plus my cat is half-Siamese and half-Racoon (or so I’m convinced) and I let him outside so I’d have to guard my poor plants. Either way, I think I could manage a little city-garden. I want to buy some patio furniture too – if I got some cool tables I could set the pots up a little.

The idea of walking out into our rather-large yard and being surrounded by flowers and plants makes me smile, but I’ve never really been sure where to start. I love the idea of being outside in the summer planting and digging in the dirt. I want a big, full, colorful garden to hang out in when I’m outside. A place to think and sit and read and paint.
Last year my attempt at a vegetable garden failed because my soil is so poor (and the backyard flooded when a sprinkler busted). This year I plan to plant in boxes. Meanwhile I am almost certain that I will sow a year of rotating cover crop to crowd out the weeds/lawn and for use as green manure. I don’t know if it will help enough, but I guess buckwheat and clover and rye can’t make my backyard look any worse than it does now!
Douxdel is not really doing much of anything
...I know you can rent/buy a plot at the local park or you can ask your landlord if you can start one on the land, but still…my landlord is a scary Greek man and I know I’m already breaking the lease in at least 3 different ways (what with the 2 extra roommates, the 4 birds, and the guinea pig).
I’ve decided that I’ll start mine when I get outta college and my fiance buys us a sweet little house somewhere. sighs I used to have a garden when I was younger at the house I grew up in. I remember sneaking into the garden whenever I saw my gran heading out there because she’d usually be carrying a salt shaker. We’d go through the garden, picking ripe tomatoes and strawberries and eating them fresh from the garden.
I can’t wait to start another one…

I would like to start a vegetable garden. I want to grow some fruits and vegetables that i would use on my own. Just the common stuff like Tomato etc. maybe grapes.
No chance of doing it soon, will have to wait till marriage (3-4 years) and have a big house.
My world works like this…found two cool buddhas to put in garden…instead of focusing on where it will be, and what I should grow. My husband bought us books, I’m just to A.D.D to sit and read some Idiot’s Garden book.
Wish me luck..

but finally I’m doing it in the space where I live. The tomatoes are a’bloomin, snap peas a’sproutin, and the lettuce has been taking off in an incredible way, among other things growing as well. It’s such great meditation to spend some time in the garden every day. Now to figure out how to oust some damn slugs!

...turns out it was all about the water. I didn’t water nearly enough. Which kind of goes along with another goal I have (drink more water). :p
The first thing I do when I get home from work is go check on my garden to see the new growth- it’s so neat! I’m not obsessed like people get with gardens, but it is very nice to watch things grow, and know they need you to take care of them, to an extent.
