    Persistence 4 years ago

«The value of persistence comes not from stubbornly clinging to the past. It comes from a vision of the future that’s so compelling you would give almost anything to make it real.» Steve Pavlina

Well worth doing, but not for the wrong reasons. 4 years ago

I was way too conservative because I allowed my church to define my politics. I had become bigoted and bad. I forgot that the bible doesn’t take political sides. I thought that i would only live the good life if i did everything my church told me to do.

    I’ve learned a few things since then…
    • always ask ‘where is it written’. way too often I just took something to be fact without really checking it out for myself.
    • there’s more than one way to do just about anything when it comes to the christian faith.
    • the bible doesn’t take sides on as many things as people think.
    • jesus was neither republican or democrat, liberal or conservative, and he’d likely be appalled by many of the things each of those groups stand for.
    a few tips:
    • it’s not good to throw it all away… but you’ll learn that in time anyway. I just recommend keeping that time fairly short. The more time you spend wondering what goes and what stays about your beliefs, the more anxious you’ll get.
    • don’t become a liberal just for the sake of doing so. you’d be trading one bad ideology for another.
    • don’t just find a middle ground, there is no such thing. find a higher ground.
    • don’t lord your new beliefs over anyone else. that’s bigotry, thats what your leaving behind.
    • don’t do it because its popular. it’s not.
    • if christianity is at your core, remember that anything worth believing will never be based on a single verse. don’t let anyone try to convince you of something based on a single verse. everything worth believing will go all throughout the bible.

change is worth it. 4 years ago

If someone needs confronting, confront them. just, WHAT does that word ‘needs’ mean to you or I?
