Start another company.

Another venture 9 months ago

I just sold my half of a successful doula and birth services business. After 4 exciting years it was time to do something else and have more regular hours. I am certain that being my own boss is important to me and after 13 years in HR, in large corps, it is clear I NEED to be my own boss. In November I started walking dogs professionally and love it – fresh air, quiet companions, exercise. In thinking about my next move, I would like to take my obsession with tidyness (not necessarily cleanliness) and run with it. I recently helped a friend clean out some of her very cluttered apartment and it was very satisfying. I have been thinking about starting a professional organizing company. I have notes but no action points yet. Working on it!

Company 3! 2 years ago

This is going pretty well. Got the new company worked out, couple VCs interested (top level, without any ideas) and a talent firm. Unfortunately I don’t have enough time yet!

RailsCms 3 years ago

I am currently in the process of building a Ruby on Rails based CMS. It will be at RailsCMS. It will be open source and all, and hopefully will have some really cool features. We’ll see.

An ongoing list of entreprenurial ideas 4 years ago

top ten this week:

1) start building the car amplifiers I have designed
2) Go back to installing car audio
3) sell my art
4) sell my music
5) hire out my studio to other musicians
6) build houses
7) fix up old houses (buy, fix, sell)
8) fix up old guitars
9) clean up cars (buy, fix, sell)
10) sell my carpet remnants on ebay (should be #1)

...like Mike. Or Erik. Or Chris. Or Dymond if he knew how to do something useful, like code.

Start another company... 4 years ago

The first company I started in 1998 but closed down after the dot com crash in 2001. Lost millions in paper wealth. Lost a bit of my bravado (which needed some cutting back anyway). Lost some acquaintances worth losing.
