This year I am growing a variety of heirloom tomatoes and I could not be more excited. I bought a pack of Brandywine seeds and a variety pack of heirloom seeds. I started the seeds back in February and now they are full grow plants. My first tomato is just starting to ripen, I will post a new picture when it is full ripe. :)

LookingAhead is going to complete goal #1 on Sunday.
Maybe I need to redefine “grow.” My tomato plants have been in for a couple of months, have grown considerably, have flowered, have even produced tomatoes…but all of them, from the cherry tomatoes to the heirlooms, are stubbornly staying green, thanks to some very unpredictable Seattle weather. So, have I accomplished this goal or not?
And they just got here a couple of days ago. Sooo excited. I got Brandywine tomato seeds and a “mixture” pack of a few different varieties. Cant wait to start the seeds, either this weekend or next. :)
joeyinthebush is off work cos of the snow
I live in a flat & realize this goal has to be put on hold until I have the space.
I bought my brother some seeds for christmas so he can grow some on his allotment.
All of my plants have fruited and are totally out of control now!
Some still haven’t ripened yet, like the Black Krim, but they’re so overloaded! I’m just hoping they ripen before the first frost.
And they’re doing so well! The ones I can remember off the top of my head are Radiator Charlie’s, Campjoy, Black Krim, Peaceville, Jaune Louer, and Green Zebra.
I don’t have the best soil, so they started out kind of feeble, but when I added fertilizer they just shot right up! All of them are flowering, and about half of them have fruited already. None are ripe yet, but I am so looking forward to it!
what happens to the now-germinated seeds I planted a month ago? People are telling me that the plant will die over the winter; but winter isn’t something we have in the San Francisco Bay Area….can it produce fruit in the spring once the warmth comes back in full? I’m prepared to bring my little heirloom and zebra stripe plants in for the “winter” so that they can flourish next spring / summer….
