I’ve decided to become an illustrator, already a goal on my list, so I’ll file all further entries under that heading.
How to find a new career
How I did it: Go to the various job sites online, I got a job on USA Jobs. Put yourself up for any job that remotely interest you, then let the employer decide if you are qualified or not.
Lessons & tips: never give up

I may have to cut this career counselor loose sooner rather than later. I’m making progress but too much of it is self-directed.
We’re making progress, I think. So far it’s a lot of deciding what I want out of a new career. But that’s never the hard part, is it?
I met with a career counselor today for the first time. It was a getting-to-know-you session and I left feeling great. We’re going to meet once a week for three months. I hope that this is the start of something great.
I’m going to delete “get a job” and replace it with this. I need to pick a new career and focus on that. I’m meeting with a career counselor next month. Together we’re supposed to figure out what is the best path for me.

I want to get going with my career.
I’ve always thought I would be a journalist and that’s what I was studying for. But when I got in college things weren’t quite as I expected. So now I don’t want to study journalism anymore and since I’ve decided to make some radical changes in my life I think it’s time to look for a career I like.
I graduated with a not-so-stellar GPA in Computer Science, did about 10 years in the field developing software for different companies, then found myself without the ability to get a new job in IT back in 2002. I took up real estate appraisal, and got state-certified last year. Unfortunately there are some “issues” in the finacial markets and the housing markets that make it tough to find sufficient work as a independent fee appraiser. Now I’m faced with finding my next step. Do I stay the course, try to get back into IT, or try something new? I’ve considered something new, but I don’t have any real passions or anything that is calling to me at the moment. I’m looking for ideas.

My current career is a good one, for sure, but I am tired of it. I have a lot of other interests, so I have to muck through what is feasible.
I have taught before, and am good at it (and like it too!) so maybe I’d go in that direction.
Or maybe I can find a new branch within my current career….
