How I did it: I found out I have been anemic/B12 deficient so I am taking supplements for that. Sleep is important and so is your mental state. I also found out I have heart palpitations and since being on a medication, I can comfortable work out regularly. This has vastly improved my mood and energy level. Read how I did it…

How I did it: For me, this goal was linked with sleeping less. I found that when I moderated how much sleep I got I actually had more energy. You know how if you sleep too much you feel tired? By only getting as much sleep as your body needs you can operate on maximum energy! Read how I did it…

I want to run farther, work harder without the loss of energy, have more stamina. The clock will begin tomorrow.
Absnasm is so freaking happy!
I went into work late this morning, so I have been awake for only 13 hours. I am ready to drop already. I am staring at a blank screen trying to raise the mental wherewithal to write even just the intro for an essay for which I haven’t had the energy to do any reading.
Ugh.
jakthund Nothing to it but to do it.
What I need to do:
- get adequate sleep
- drink enough water
- breathe
- meditate
- exercise
- get enough sun/daylight/fresh air
- get out of my apartment
- keep eating lots of fruits and vegetables
- eat even more vegetables
- avoid sugar and refined carbs
- have fun once in a while
And tomorrow I’ll start taking a herbal supplement for a month and see if it works. I’m tired of wasting my time doing nothing.
I could think it’s the vitamins, but really… it’s probably because I don’t have to commute 3+ hours each day anymore! Now I’m down to 1h20 and I feel it physically more than I would have thought.
destroyingempathy is working...hardly.
Since classes started again, I’ve had plenty of energy. Coffee is always there when I need it, and my morning walks are definitely contributing!
Many times during the day I just stop and think “this can’t be normal. I’m just TOO tired”. I admit I’m too lazy/afraid to go to the doctor to have it checked, so I’m going to start taking my vitamins and wait for a couple of months. If nothing has changed by then… I guess I’ll have to pay a visit to the doc…
The problem is my vitamins are huge and a pain to swallow.
A couple of years ago I went jogging every morning before work and it worked great for my energy levels, but with the fall and winter approaching I’m not sure that’s realistic. It will be dark and cold outside!
I think this has lots to do with that flat feeling when I just feel like curling up in bed at 16:00 in the afternoon…

It’s hard to have energy when your job requires you to have none. It’s a total drain on the entire day.
I guess this is just a matter of finding out what works for you, unless there’s some kind of medical problem that causes the lack of energy.
So far I’ve found these things to raise my energy level:- Exercise, especially walking, jogging and biking in fresh air – this really helps, and if I exercise in the morning it keeps my energy level up for most of the day.
- Writing down a list of worries or time-consuming thoughts – that way I can have a break from them and look at it all later, without worrying about forgetting anything.
- Listening to music – the right type of music usually helps, but it doesn’t last for very long.
- Avoiding unhealthy foods – it doesn’t really raise my energy level, but as unhealthy foods surely is an energy zapper it helps to avoid it.
- My own “spa” days at home – this is also a good way to feel energized for the day.
