How to encourage more women to get tested for sti's

How I did it: Well this is an ongoing thing to be honest. Now having worked in sexual health though, it's just so easy to get tested and have piece of mind. The complications of untreated STIs are pretty miserable - chronic pain, infertility, ectopic pregnancy.

Well, I LURVE sexual health so I ought to be promoting it on this. I teach teenagers in the East End about sex and it is INCREDIBLE the things you hear. Tower Hamlets is the borough of STIs/HIV and it’s clear education is failing!
It is so important, with all the problems that STIs can cause… and it is so easy to get tested. You just need to roll up to your GUM clinic, admittedly you may have to wait a while, but they’re friendly and all testing parts are over VERY quickly!

I’m thinking about writing an email to my girl friends, encouraging them to go. Most of the girls I know have had more than one sexual partner but haven’t been tested for anything. I’m worried about being seen as intrusive, but hopefully they’ll understand why I’m doing it. :)

I went and got myself checked out a few weeks ago for the first time, and I’m not sure why I waited so long because it wasn’t scary or unpleasant in the slightest. The staff were all really friendly and I feel calmer knowing what’s going on with my own body :)
