Foundations of AJAX is done. I can give that back to my co-worker and move on to bigger better things. I was a little disappointed that they only focused on java severlets, but after an hour of debugging their source code (without reading that chapter) I learned a whole lot more than they intended because of the numerous sites I visited with the intention to fix their code. They could have put in their downloadable code something along the lines of ‘Requires an X server’. Or I could have read the chapter, but I would prefer examples first then explanation…Of course I’m still peeved that they didn’t have any comments…nothing at the top or through out the code.
Overall it was a good book for the basics and covered more than just code, but debuggers and frameworks too. Who knows maybe Monday I’ll have another book on my desk with a note asking me to read it by the end of the week and its more advanced than this book. That would be great if I continually got paid to read programming books.
